Snowflake
A Theory of Composition

by Andrew Schulze

When snowflakes fall from the heavens
I see one falling and rush over to it
I bring it up to my face and look at it
It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen

I take a deep breath
I close my eyes and I listen to it
I open my eyes and the snowflake is gone

I try to remember the snowflake
I try to remember what it looked like
I try to remember what it sounded like
I try to remember what it felt like

I close my eyes and begin to compose

I try to remember what it felt like
I try to remember what it sounded like
I try to remember what it looked like
I try to remember the snowflake

I open my eyes and the snowflake is back
I close my eyes and I listen to it
I take a deep breath

It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen
I bring it up to my face and look at it
I see one falling and rush over to it
When snowflakes fall from the heavens
